We are fortunate to be able to provide a full coverage of Special Education services at Mt. Holly School.
Our full time Learning Consultant, Becy Toby, and 3/4 time Speech and Language Pathologist, Lily French,
have several roles in our school. They act primarily as teachers of children who require either specialized
instruction or additional instruction above and beyond what is provided for them by their regular classroom
teachers. They act as collaborating teachers and work in close consultation with all classroom teachers
to ensure that children are being served in the most efficient and productive manner possible.
The Learning Consultant and Speech Pathologist sit on the school's Educational Support Team, which meets weekly. They also facilitate and coordinate all testing and evaluation procedures for Special Education students and those referred for Special Education. The Special Education personnel also coordinate and plan the work and supervision of Para-educators who work in the classroom with students requiring intensive intervention.
We believe that ALL children can learn in a school environment with supportive services, even though their educational needs and goals may differ.
